Tracking collar for your pet

Even with intense care and attention, a pet can escape at any moment, and finding them is not easy. It was with this in mind that the GPS for dogs was developed. The management system is the same used in cellphone tracking and car mapping services, meaning it operates through satellites.

GPS for dogs instills more confidence than microchips, which are nothing more than an “identity card” for the animal, gathering important information without a tracking system. There are still few GPS options in Brazil, but gradually, we will have more models that are easily accessible in pet shops.

How does GPS for dogs work?

The GPS system is usually integrated into collars. Through it, the owner can set up an entire area for the pet to roam freely, such as the house, yard, and surroundings. When the pet crosses this limit, the device emits a signal, usually via wireless, with the exact location of the animal. You can choose to receive the notification by email or text message.

Some more modern collars come with the option to download an app on your phone, allowing the owner to monitor the animal in real-time. Besides being useful in cases of escape, it can also be used during travels. The system prevents the dog from getting on the wrong flight or, at least, ensures a quick location.

As it uses satellites in the tracking system, it works anywhere in the world. The GPS is very accurate and rarely malfunctions.

Models available in the market

Tagg – The Pet Tracker

This is a collar with a GPS system and Wi-Fi, compatible with IOS and Android. You can set up an access area, and if the animal exceeds it, you will be notified via email, messages, or the app. If there is no connection, the alert will be sent to five other contacts.

The device is extremely resistant and works even in contact with water. The battery lasts up to 31 days and can be recharged. It is already available in Brazil, but sales only happen online.

SpotLite

This system works similarly to Tagg but has an additional rescue button on the collar. It allows someone to trigger it as soon as they find the pet, sending an emergency notification to the owner. Unfortunately, SpotLite is not yet available in Brazil.

The Pet Locator

This device is small and should be attached to the collar. It works well in areas with weaker signals because, in addition to GPS, it operates with a GSM system. All functions are monitored through a battery and a small solar panel. It is already available in Brazil and can be ordered online.

The prices of GPS for dogs are still high, and finding them in the market is not that simple. But over time, the device will begin to establish itself in the market, and prices will reduce.

Now that you know about the tracking collar for your pet, you can give your little one more freedom without losing safety. It’s worth the investment.
